North Riverside Players, while appearing to be in hibernation during Covid time, has actually been hard at work! We have taken the down time to reorganize and inventory all of our props and costumes. With that effort now completed, we have 4 productions in the works.
Available Sunday, March 7 at 1 PM
A Mystery Murdered by Karl Garner
Directed by Synoma Hays
20-minute, Pre-recorded Murder Mystery...of sorts
The production will premier on Sunday, March 7, 2021, and will then be able to be viewed on demand in March and April. There is no charge to view this production, but we would appreciate any donation you might make to NRP.
Link to view will be available Sunday, March 7!
Our first-ever virtual murder mystery is directed by Synoma Hays, our murder mystery maven! It is a prerecorded, 20 minute, Zoom presentation meant to take the place of our annual murder mystery fundraiser and to let everyone know we are still alive and well, and hopefully, funny!

Summer, Dates TBA
Zuleika the Great, in Oxford by Mark Burrows
Directed by Sam Buonomo and Jay Fontanetta
Limited seating staged reading
We are planning to have a staged reading of a brand new musical written and composed by our very own NRP member, Mark Burrows, titled Zuleika the Great, in Oxford. It will be co-directed by Sam Buonomo and Jay Fontanetta. A staged reading is an important step along the path to a full blown, premier production of this funny and charming musical. The playwright gets to see and hear the response of a small audience to his work, which helps hone it for the premier. This will be a limited seating event sometime this summer, and it will incorporate audience feedback direct to the playwright right after the show. If you are a theatre wonk and want to be part of a brand new musical in development, then this is your opportunity.

October
Sweeney Todd by Stephen Sondheim
Directed by Jay Fontanetta
Our much delayed production of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, by Stephen Sondheim, directed by Jay Fontanetta, is now scheduled for the first two weekends of October, 2021 (fingers crossed!). We have a wonderful cast already chosen for this show. It should be a spectacular return for NRP to our full throated, musical heritage.
